Samanvay II
January 14, 2008Was a nice day. I managed to stand 2nd in the Marketing event at Samanvay, however, missed a place amongst the winners in the HR game by a whisker.
Doesn’t feel very nice to see my partner go empty handed in that event, it took really good effort. However, we have no qualms over it, it must have been a close call. My journey for the festival ends here, shall take my flight back tomorrow morning.
Being the first ever B School event I took part in, I feel satisfied. Moreso, the IIT DoMS students proved very nice and helpful during the day. There was a sense of warmth from their side when we could even take our their hospitality helpdesk, sing songs and even loan their cycles for our use.
I also could meet up a couple of my ol’ office colleagues and felt good to chit chat with them at the Marina beach. Hadn’t felt that I would come to chennai a few days ago. Being a non-IITian, a visit to an IIT (Kanpur and Roorkee before this one) has always evoked mixed emotions. Its a blend of all aspirations and a free environment ready to nurture the best minds in India, its also a sense of realizing my own shortcomings. However, as a MBA student, the feeling was to remember those 4 years of engineering and hostel life. While MBA life is more sexier than engineering days, the life in those 4 years are so integral in the transition from a teenager to a 20 something.
A parting thought: SCMHRD may not be a college to aspire for any of the UG students at IIT Madras, however, today it may be a college which current IIT DoMS students may have aspired to be in.
